Experience and Background

Jonathan (Yoni) Shechter is the Head of our Securities Practice Group. His practice focuses on corporate and securities law, with a concentration on public offerings, private placements, mergers and acquisitions, and representing public companies with their ongoing ’34 Act requirements.

Jonathan grew up in Israel until the age of 12, and thereafter lived in Colorado and Maryland, before moving to New York to attend law school. After graduating from New York Law School, Jonathan served as an associate at the corporate and securities department of Sichenzia Ross Friedman Ference LLP, where he focused his practice on representing a range of domestic and international corporations in mergers and acquisitions, private equity and corporate finance transactions. In 2008, Jonathan spearheaded the formation of an Israel Practice Group, with a focus on representing Israeli companies going public and/or raising capital in the United States and internationally. Jonathan has represented many companies and investment banks in the public offerings of securities, and has represented numerous public companies in private equity financing transactions (“PIPEs”) and the resulting resale registration statements associated with these financings.

Apart from Jonathan’s legal work, he is also a part-owner and Chief Operating Officer of Rug Bug, LLC, which focus on infant and child activities and education with an emphasis on environmental friendliness and philanthropy.

Jonathan completed the ING New York City Marathon in 2005 and 2006, both times as part of charitable organizations raising money for cancer research, and enjoys competing in triathlons and skiing.

Jonathan is a member of the New York and New Jersey State Bar Associations.

Education

Jonathan is a graduate of the University of Maryland where he attained dual degrees in Economics and Political Science, with a focus in international economics, and earned his J.D. from New York Law School. Jonathan speaks English and Hebrew.
